Microsoft is rolling out Windows 10 20H1 Build 18950 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring that includes Japanese IME and Snip & Sketch improvements.
If you are a Windows Insider in the Fast ring, you can update to Insider Preview Build 18950 by going into Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update and then checking for new updates.
Below we have outlined some of the major changes in this build.
Japanese IME Improvements
With this build Microsoft has made some improvements to the Japanese IME:
- Prediction Candidate window key navigation: We fixed an issue where the focus inside prediction candidate window wouldn’t move when using the Up Arrow key.
- Key customization: We’ve improved the discoverability of key assignment settings. Also, based on feedback, we’ve updated the default assigned value of Ctrl + Space to be “None”. Ctrl + Space can still be used for toggling IME-on/off by changing the value through its setting.
Snip & Sketch improvements
Snip & Sketch is also getting some improvements in this build.
This includes a single window mode that will open new snips in the same window rather than opening up a ton of Snip windows. This feature can be disabled using the Multiple windows options.
Snippers can now Zoom into a screenshot if they are too small for you to annotate on. You can use the CTRL+Plus, CTRL+Minus and Ctrl+Mouse wheel to zoome in and out of a picture.
Finally, Microsoft will promote the WIN+Shift+S keyboard combination to create a new snip from within the Snip & Sketch canvas space.
Ths features are being rolled out individually over time, so you may see one feature, but not another. These features will start rolling out in version 10.1907.2064.0.
Other notable changes and issues
Other notable changes include:
- References to “Cloud Download” relating to PC reset or refresh may be found in this build. This feature is not working yet and will be available to test at a later date.
- A ctfmon.exe crash was fixed.
